Private Instruction Based on Your Goals, Needs and Schedule.
      Tom Bergh is the founder of MIKCo in 1986 and has been formally teaching sea kayaking since 1990. He is a BCU L4 Coach, ACA Open Water Instructor, is adept at evaluating a paddlers’ development, and designing best ways forward. Kayaks, accessories and safety gear provided. Whether learning effective strokes, planning for multi-day trips, or wanting to advance in the bumpy water…collapse your learning time, develop your seamanship, improve your strokes and safety thinking.

General Private Instructional Days (except Saturdays).
      $300 a day for 1 or 2 paddlers.
      $450 for 3 students.
      $550 for 4 students.

Courses and Workshops.

Many MIKCo courses and workshops are available on your schedule with your group of four or more. So call your friends and lets set a day or more to paddle.

 

Greenlandic Comprehensive Paddling Workship w Cheri and Turner of Kayak Ways. Individualized to the student, full set of Greenland strokes and combinations, and sculling for support, balance brace, Greenland rolling and variations, and for advanced students norsaq and hand rolls, forward finishing and combat rolls. Cheri has worked with MIKCo since the early ‘90s, and with Turner’s creative applications, you will leave understanding the beauty and subtlety of traditional paddling. Low volume kayaks, tuiliqs and Greenland paddles will be available, but you should have your own kayak, or use one of MIKCo’s for the strokes segments of the course. Guide and Leadership Training w Tom Bergh, 3 days. Based on the new BCU 4* Sea Leader Training, this incident and in-the-field based leadership training, is designed to improve your thinking as a professional sea kayak guide or coach. If you lead others, even just friends and family, then you should be ready for this course that gives the test before the lesson. Come get wet, we guarantee the course will live on in your paddling. You must be reasonably comfortable in normal Maine sea states and prepared for cold water. Fastrack I, 3 Day. MIKCo is constantly improving its unique teaching methods for our multi-day Fastrack Courses. The small ratio, multi day format allows teaching of the more complex stroke combinations and seamanship applications. You will leave with exercises to continue your development post-course and with a solid framework for making responsible decisions on the sea. Approximates our Fundamentals 1-4 and Rock Garden offerings.
