November 2009
Outer Island Woodstrip Kayak. $2,400
Designed by Jay Babina for performance, rolling ability, low windage and speed. It’s a low volume strip-built, West Greenland style for intermediate to advanced paddlers. Beam is 21”, length 18’. This build has mahogany inserts around the excellent kayak sport hatches, day hatch, triple bulkheads and a beautiful carbon composite cockpit rim. As I recall, its covered in a 6 and 8 oz cloth so is as strong as any boat. Its had very few days in the water, is mostly stored inside, w only a few scratches. Excellent shape, needs good home. http://www.outer-island.com
Impex Outer Islander Composite $1,800
This is Impex’s version of the Jay Babina design Outer Island. We hear of many who like its low volume, low windage, minimal rocker, good speed. We know a number of paddlers who’ve purchased it for its Greenland rolling abilities. Its 18’ by 21”. IR backband. Good shape

Old Town
Cayuga RM 130, 146 and 160 $700
Yellow fade to red, some with rudders, 13 ft – 16 ft x 25”, with comfortable cockpits, deck lines, neoprene w hard cover hatches. $700.
The Old Town Cayuga’s are performance recreational boats. Designed by Necky and Old Town’s professional designer/paddler’s Spike & Murray, these boats have many of the same high secondary stability traits of the modern sea kayaks, but in a user friendly wider hull, and simple, solid, do anything design. I prefer the 130 personally for its fun factor. Take these surfing, rock gardening, put your inexperienced friends in them, and get out on the water. The boats have the safety of multiple bulkheads, but mostly they are… fun to paddle!

Necky
Manitou 14 RM $700
Yellow or blue. Retractable skeg. Double bulkheads. 14’4” x 24”.
MIKCo’s really likes the Manitou 14’s with their double bulkheads and full modern sea kayak attributes of high secondary stability. Designed by Necky and Old Town’s professional designer/paddler’s Spike & Murray, these boats combine the modern sea kayaks but in a user friendly wider hull, and simple, solid, do anything design. Take these surfing, rock gardening, put your inexperienced friends in them, and get out on the water. The boats have the safety of multiple bulkheads, but mostly they are… fun to paddle! These are real boats with the inherent safety of a quality manufacturer in an effective and well received design.

Necky Eskia $675-950
Sunset, Yellow, Red. Rudder, fore and aft hatches
A solid workhorse. 16' with a 25" beam this is a great touring boat for the beginner and a good boat for the intermediate to start exploring more advanced waters. Solid stability provides reassuring ride for beginners, plus a stable platform for anglers, nature viewers and photographers. Excellent tracking. Excels in wind or choppy seas. Necky is discontinuing this great boat, get one while they last. Some boats have seen more use than others and are priced accordingly.

Necky Chatham $900
Red 17'4", 21" beam, retractable skeg, day hatch
Less-pronounced rocker than its 16-foot sibling gives the 17 stronger tracking and greater hull speed. Sits comfortably on edge and responds quickly to a deliberate paddle stroke. Adjustable outfitting offers maximum comfort while still providing positive fit for aggressive edging and rolls. This is a great touring boat for the intermediate paddler. A favorite of the guides.

Necky Narpa $650.00
Gray. 16.5" 24" beam, rudder, fore and aft hatches.
An older boat, but a tough one. Necky no longer uses this high grade of plastic in it's newer kayaks. The Narpa is about as rugged as they come. Plenty of space for loading up. A rounder hull shape makes for a more dynamic ride than the Eskia. Room for big feet and a very simple, but dependable backrest system. We've put in some after-market decklines for safety's sake.
